Silly rabbits. Dontcha know by now that the longer a post the more riled up someone is?

Me= short calm collect posts.

you all= long confusing circular repetetive posts.

Now I hope come morning a mod sees this and bans us all. It will be worth it to see you all cry to your moms.

Thread is worth it just to see this alone.

The problem is that they bring absolutely nothing to the table. They take up space, tend to be abnoxious and distracting, and they don't do anything useful.

I disagree. The empire signature's widely used on GC2.com enable the poster to readily show to which empire he is a member of and it also promotes that empire, as the success of any empire, clan driven system is the members you are able to have.

It's not always about the poster that you need to know about, though i'll admit that depends on the game/site. I'll grant that a banner type sig offers very little to those on JU or WC. It does however and has proven to be very effective (just ask Kryo, he made a heap himself) for promoting ones empire (in games with such a system), a notion that i'm sure will be seen very soon with the Clans on Demigod.

I could live with the extra time scrolling.

We're talking about one or two lines of text here, i doubt extra scrolling is really required.

Lok, each to their own, i for one have not said that SD needs them, i am not bothered in the least that they don't. I except that there are many folks who don't like em, fine, don't read them, or as i suggested previously use Adblock Plus, or some equivalent to block the image.

Saying they bring nothing to the table is your opinion, and i respect that. I do find them useful and don't mind the line or two extra of text needed to accommodate them.

As for the ones i don't care for...i simply don't read them...they do not obstruct my ability to read the forums in any way.

I agree Kitkun....

Night Train, your an amusing guy.....

Negative 50 karma for night train . But agreed he definitely should just be ignored.

Anyways, most clans or gaming forums ive been to use signatures as a way for people to create art on a down day. Like if you're not doing so hot and just want to relax you can show what you like to others. Not saying i want it or don't but usually it doesnt end up being a bad thing..

Well I'm gonna f**k you all up if signatures come in and any are forgeable... I'll take 'em to the bank and withdraw whatever cash is attached to each

LOL

Mumblefratz
The topic is pretty well beaten to death at this point. Some people favor it and some don’t, it’s no big deal in either case. Everyone is welcomed to their opinion. It's only when certain folks feel the need to denigrate others simply because their opinion is different that the above stuff happens.

Any reasonable person can make their own judgment as to who first instigated the personal attacks. I feel no compelling need to argue the semantics of the meaning of what someone said nor do I feel any need to prove my reading comprehension. Like I said, any reasonable person has already made their judgment as to who the asshole is and who is merely responding in righteous indignation. I know I have.

And yet you do it again yourself, all in one post. That makes you just as guilty as anyone else going offtopic in this thread. But alas, you are right, this topic is lost.

Me as the topic starter am a bit confused on how this trivial matter can be such inflamatory.

Not having participated in the verbal brawl I can give at least one conclusion: Night Train is an arse.

But apart from all that I'd like to say that I understand why some people want or  don't want signatures:

Con:
* When abused they become incredibly annoying.
* Waste of space.
* Signatures distract from the post.

Pro:
* Adds a personal note to your posts.
* Can contain beneficial information (I like to place links to favored guides and tools).
* Can advertise guild affiliation or, in case of Demigod, your Pantheon standings.

It's not like we can't sign our posts manually or per greasemonkey script if we really want to, but it's convenient to have that standard feature if signatures are indeed allowed.

And not every signature will look like this:

on Jun 04, 2009

I'm in favor of signatures.

Why?

Because then we can get an choice to NOT show signatures.

When people add signatures manually, the choice is theirs, not mine.

Locking the post.

Question asked, answered, debated, flamed.

on Jun 04, 2009

I personally can't stand signatures, so unless Brad comes up to me and says "I want signatures" I wouldn't expect that feature anytime soon

Bara

If Brad did that I'd rush over to the US and feed him to his bees....

Due to a system hack I missed all this....um....crap.

Probably fortunate for you ALL.

Zubaz has the right idea.
